BHUBANESWAR: Although Covid-19 was declared a pandemic by WHO, the whole world is now going through a deep crisis since one and half years. Public health has become a number one priority globally. After the first wave, second wave of Covid has spread a reign of terror in India since April.
The fast mutating strains and changed symptoms of Covid have puzzled the doctors and they have been working tirelessly to provide services to patients across towns and villages.
Delhi based leading non-profit organisation Odia Samaj has played a significant role in controlling the impact of the raging second wave of Covid by providing tele-consultation by a panel of renowned doctors. Superstitions and lack of awareness among the villagers in the interiors of India have helped spread the pandemic to dangerous proportions.
Instead of visiting a doctor people are resorting to home remedies due to fear of public embarrassment and social stigma. Also in some cases the health infrastructure in the rural areas is quite poor.
In such a situation “Odia Samaj Covid Care” initiative has played an important role in giving relief to traumatized patients. This tele-medicine service is completely free of cost and is being offered by Odia Samaj in association with Viveo Cares. It has greatly helped people in getting right medication and advice at the right time by doctors who are selflessly working round the clock. More than 5000 people have been cured with the support of Odia Samaj Tele-medicine initiative in the last two months.
Odia Samaj is also simultaneously hosting webinars related to issues surrounding Covid, on regular intervals, to generate awareness amongst people. These webinars are addressed by top doctors of the country and are attended by people across the country in large numbers.
