JAMSHEDPUR: Tata Steel and the Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE) had jointly organized the Inter-School Environment Quiz “Mindblaster” at the Michael John Auditorium today. The Quiz had been conducted by the very popular Quiz Master “Pickbrain” Giri Balasubramanyam, who matched wits with the participants in his own inimitable style.
As many as 86 teams from 30 schools participated in the event. After a preliminary round, six teams emerged as finlalists for the main quiz. The quiz content researched by Giri Balasubramaniam consisted of interesting rounds dealing with global environmental issues.
Honourable chief guest Mr Senthil Kumar, Chief, Human Resources Officer, Tata Steel, while encouraging the participants said, “It is indeed commendable and heartening to see that the participants are so keen on keeping themselves updated on the current environmental trends.” On a lighter note he said, they have come here as wizkids but will leave the venue as ‘environmental wizkids’.” Mr Farzan Heerjee, Hony Secretary, SPPE and Executive Officer, MD’s Office, Tata Steel, and many other senior officials of Tata Steel was also present on the occasion.
Quizzing is considered a popular mind-sport and is played on various platforms and forums as a power vehicle to sharpen the minds of the young and create a wholesome competitive spirit among them. Like the previous years, the winning school, DAV Public School, Bistupur, carried home the Rolling Trophy and the winning teams received attractive prize money and gift hampers.
