BANGALORE (India CSR): Tata Soulfull, a leading brand in millet-based snacks and cereals, celebrated International Millets Day on December 19th, 2024, with its impactful ‘Desh ke Millets’ School Connect Program. This initiative aimed to educate and inspire the next generation to embrace millets for their nutritional, environmental, and agricultural benefits. Reaching over 1 lakh students across India, the program sets the stage for sustainable living and greener agricultural practices.

Empowering Students Across India

A Nationwide Reach

The ‘Desh ke Millets’ initiative connected with students from 100 schools across major metros, including Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. Targeting children aged 10-14 years, the program introduced the benefits of ancient grains like Ragi, Jowar, and Bajra.

Highlighting the mission, Prashant Parameswaran, President of Soulfull at Tata Consumer Products, said:

“We are committed to bringing ancient superfood millets to modern consumers through innovative formats. Educating young minds is key to driving grassroots change and promoting millets as a sustainable food choice.”

Interactive Learning

The sessions featured Tata Soulfull’s cheerful mascot, Cruncha Muncha, who made learning fun and engaging. Students participated in interactive discussions about millets, focusing on their sustainability and health benefits.

Why Millets Matter

Better for You, Farmers, and the Planet

Millets are not only nutrient-rich but also environmentally sustainable. The program emphasized that these grains require 10 times less water than rice, making them a vital resource for water conservation efforts.

Healthy Snacking Options

Students were introduced to Tata Soulfull’s millet-based products, including Ragi Bites No Maida Choco, Ragi Bites Fills, and Ragi Bites Choco Sticks. These products demonstrate how millets can be seamlessly integrated into daily diets through wholesome and tasty snacks.

Global and National Significance

India’s Leadership in Millets

The United Nations declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets, positioning India as a global leader in promoting these grains. Tata Soulfull continues to champion this legacy, inspiring the youth to embrace millets while supporting Indian farmers.

A Vision for the Future

By introducing children to the benefits of millets, Tata Soulfull is fostering a generation that understands the importance of sustainable food choices. The program aims to engage another 1 lakh students in the coming months, reinforcing its commitment to creating lasting impact.

A Greener Tomorrow

Encouraging Hands-On Engagement

Activity leaflets distributed during the sessions encouraged students to explore millet-based foods at home. These activities not only reinforced learning but also offered prizes to further motivate participation.

A Step Toward Sustainability

Through its ‘Desh ke Millets’ program, Tata Soulfull is not just promoting a superfood; it is shaping a sustainable future. By educating young minds, the initiative contributes to building a healthier society while supporting environmentally friendly farming practices.

Tata Soulfull’s ‘Desh ke Millets’ School Connect Program is a pioneering initiative that combines education, sustainability, and innovation. By inspiring the next generation to embrace millets, the brand is fostering healthier lives, sustainable farming, and a greener planet. As this program expands, it promises to leave a lasting impact on students, farmers, and the environment.
