Promotes hygienic sanitary practices by building toilets for the local communities

Maharashtra:Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has been at the forefront for improving the quality of healthcare and standard of living of the communities living in and around its areas of operations.In line with the Company’s commitment to improving quality of life of its community, it has built two sanitary toilet blocks in the Kamba Village, Ambernath, District-Thane, Mumbai. These two sanitary toilet blocks will benefit the local tribal population of the communities living in Pachava Mail and Netarpada near Kamba Village.
The objective behind this initiative was to bridge the local population’s need for proper toilets, and, thereby, sensitise them about the importance of maintaining hygienic sanitation practices to avoid diseases. To further drive the message home, the Community Relations team of Tata Power also organised a fun street play on ‘Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation’, which was very well-received by the community members.
Speaking on the success of the initiative, V.K. Chourey, Head – Transmission, Mumbai Operations, Tata Power, said, “At Tata Power, we always endeavor to improve the quality of life of our communities through various activities. Through this initiative, we wish to promote the use of toilets amongst the local tribals, and spreads awareness about the necessity of maintaining sanitary hygiene. We are delighted that this initiative was so well-received by the community, and we will continue to undertake similar initiatives in the future.”
V. K. Chourey, Head- Transmission, Mumbai Operations, Tata Power, and C. N. Nagakumar, Chief- Tata Power Skill Development, graced the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guests of the event. Also present at the event were K K Rao, Ms Anjali Vazir, Shrikant Bhangaonkar, Hari Rohra, Suresh Rao, amongst other dignitaries.
