PUNE: Swaroop A. Waghmare, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Dr. D. Y. Patil Law College, Pimpri, under Dr. D. Y. Patil Unitech Society, has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Maharshi Ved Vyas National Guru Gaurav Award 2026-27’ for her noteworthy, dedicated and inspiring contribution to the field of education. The award was presented at a special ceremony organised on the occasion of Independence Day on August 16 in Nandurbar.
The award was presented by the Natural Human Rights Protection Council Forum. A total of 178 nominations were received from across India, of which 75 individuals were selected for the honour based on their significant contributions in the fields of education, medicine and social work. Swaroop Waghmare was among those selected for the national honour.
The award recognises her contribution towards spreading knowledge, promoting the overall development of students and serving society and the nation through education.
Dr. Kavita Salunke, Vishal Gavit, Dr. Chatur P. Sawant, Gorakh Deore, Dr. Rakesh Ashok Ramraje and Saransh Sheth Bhavsar were among the prominent guests present at the award ceremony.
Expressing her gratitude on receiving the honour, Swaroop Waghmare said, “I dedicate this honour to my beloved father, Shri Ashok Waghmare, who was my first Guru; my teachers and mentors; my students; my colleagues; and every person who believed in me and encouraged me during both my difficult and successful moments. I receive this honour with humility.”
Her achievement has been widely appreciated by colleagues, students and well-wishers from various sections. Waghmare expressed her resolve to continue contributing to society and guiding the younger generation through education.
