WEST BOKARO: After the success of the first Cataract Operation Camp last month, where 92 patients were successfully operated, Tata Steel in association with Sankara Nethralaya is organizing a second Mobile Cataract Operation Camp at the Community Centre, Mukundabera. The free-of-cost camp is being organised to provide best-in-class eye care facilities to the people of Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and Bokaro districts.
The 10-day long camp began on December 03, 2016 and will conclude on December 12, 2016. More than 600 patients have registered with various eye related ailments. Of them, 117 patients have been diagnosed with cataract. These patients will be operated in the camp itself with the help of Mobile Eye Surgical Unit (MESU) developed by Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. MESU is equipped with all high-end facilities like Auto Refraction, Slit Lamp for Retina Fundoscopy, Digital Biometric Record along with Pathological facilities.
The operation camp was formally inaugurated today by Sanak Ghosh, Chief, Quarry (AB & E), West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel. Among others present on the occasion were Nirmal Karmali, Mukhiya, Kedala South; Tazzudin, Member, Panchayat Samiti, Barughutu; Dr BibhutiNarayan and Dr Vimal Harsora of Sankar Netralaya; Mohammad Ghulam, Project Coordinator, MESU Camp; Keshav Kumar Ranjan, Unit Head, Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS); Dr Jayant Tripathy, Sr Registrar, CSR and senior officials of Tata Steel and TSRDS.
