SBI Life Insurance Facilitates Education for Underprivileged Children

MUMBAI: SBI Life, the most trusted and most admired private insurer, has supported for quality education for children from the underprivileged segments by contributing for school classrooms and buses to benefit the rural children from Tamil Nadu. Through this initiative, SBI Life has endeavored to facilitate children from the underprivileged segments to commute to their schools safely and to study in a well furnished Pucca classroom.

This will foster a good learning environment and enable the children access quality education

On the occasion, Mr. Arijit Basu, Managing Director and CEO, SBI Life said  “SBI Life has adopted ‘Child Welfare’ as its Corporate Social Responsibility theme. We aim to play an important role in   securing the future of our country by nurturing and protecting the education and healthcare of the children. Through this initiative, we intend to positively impact the future of these children from the underprivileged segment of our society. Children are the future of our country and we are determined to secure our nation’s future by positively impacting the children from the underprivileged sections of our society.”

Mr. Ravi Krishnamurthy, Executive Director, Marketing, SBI Life, says ” In our attempt to enhance the education for the future generation, we have extended our support to Isha Education for classrooms and school buses to ensure that poor students from distant areas can conveniently commute to the school and learn in a good environment joyfully, realizing their full potential. Education is vital to the future of children and therefore we have chosen to facilitate education for children from the under privileged sections of society ”  SBI Life has adopted Child Welfare as the theme for its CSR initiative. Child Welfare is a social philanthropy venture which focuses on promotion and development of children amongst  underprivileged and disadvantaged sections of the society.

The classroom and buses funded by SBI Life are under the aegis of Isha Education which carries out the education outreach activities of Isha Foundation. Isha Foundation, founded by Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev, is a non-profit organization promoting the science of yoga throughout the country since the last 30 years. Isha Education, established in 2005, initiated Isha Vidhya Rural Schools in villages to provide school education to underprivileged rural children who cannot otherwise access or afford it. Isha Vidhya’s English-medium schools cater to rural children and prepare them for higher studies. The holistic, activity-based approach of Isha Vidhya’s educational system, nurtures children’s development beyond just academics, thus ensuring student’s full potential.

SBI Life in association with Isha Foundation, ensures that transformation is brought about in almost every aspect of a child’s life as well as in parental attitudes to education this financial year, SBI Life has extended support and facilitated programs through a range of educational services to children with a genuine intention to improve of education of the children. SBI Life has partnered with various NGOs pan India whose objective is aligned to that of the SBI Life’s CSR agenda.
