NEW DELHI (India CSR): S M Sehgal Foundation (SMSF) has been honored with two prestigious awards this week, the 5th National Water Award 2024 and the Fortune Leadership Award 2024, for its remarkable contributions to water management and community development across rural India.
National Water Award for Water Management Excellence
The Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, awarded SMSF a special mention in the “Best Civil Society” category at the 5th National Water Award. This award acknowledges the foundation’s efforts to address water scarcity through innovative solutions. SMSF’s Water Management Program focuses on rainwater harvesting, groundwater replenishment, restoring traditional water bodies, and providing access to safe drinking water through low-cost technologies.

The Honorable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, presented the first awards at the event, while additional awards were distributed by Cabinet Minister C R Patil and state water ministers. Over 600 applications were reviewed, with 38 organizations selected for recognition.
Fortune Leadership Award for Trust and Commitment
In addition to the National Water Award, SMSF received the Fortune Leadership Award 2024 in the “Most Trusted NGO” category. Anjali Makhija, Trustee & CEO of S M Sehgal Foundation, expressed gratitude, stating, “These awards are a testament to the dedication of our partners and the communities who trust us. This recognition motivates us to continue our work with even greater passion.”
