VISAKHAPATNAM: Rastriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL)-, public sector Enterprise organized 3rd Local Stake Holder Meeting for 6 Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Projects at Centre for HRD here on 7 December, 2011.
The Projects undertaken under this scheme are: 2×60 MW Waste BF gas based captive power plant, Installati on of Energy Efficient Air separation unit, Pulverized Coal Injection in Blast Furnaces -1 & 2, Waste Heat Recovery from Special Bar Mill -2, Waste Heat Recovery from Wire Rod Mill -2, Billet Caster in Steel Melting Shop-2.
Mr. M V Rao GM (TQM-ISO), VSP informed that these projects are likely to reduce Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions by more than 10 lakh tons annually . He informed that RINL is taking up these projects with intension of reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
Mrs. S Beena Lahari, Asst Environmental Engineer, APPCB, appreciated the efforts of RINL towards reducing Green House Gases emissions. She further requested RINL to take up some more projects to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
The meeting was attended by the Officials of Andhra Pradesh State Pollution Control Board, NGO’s, Officials and Employees of VSP, Union representatives. The participants have raised questions on Clean Development Mechanism and it has been answered by the RINL officials.
