BENGALURU (India CSR): Quest Global has brought clean solar lighting to Doddane, a remote tribal village in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district, through a sustainable rural electrification initiative implemented with Uthishta Charitable Trust. The project has enabled safe, reliable, and low-carbon lighting for 94 families who had long lived without access to electricity.
Located nearly 15 km inside a forest region in Hanur Taluk, Doddane now benefits from a centralized solar power system and energy-efficient LED streetlights. The initiative reduces dependence on kerosene and carbon-intensive grid electricity while improving safety, education, and community life after sunset.
The solar electrification project reflects Quest Global’s commitment to environmental protection, decarbonization, and engineering-led social impact. It also demonstrates how renewable energy can create immediate change in underserved rural communities by combining climate action with human development.
By moving the community away from kerosene-based lighting and reducing dependence on carbon-intensive grid electricity, the solar infrastructure contributes meaningfully to environmental sustainability. It eliminates emissions associated with fossil-fuel use, transportation, and extraction, supporting long-term climate goals.
Doddane, a remote tribal settlement of 94 families located nearly 15 km inside a forest region, has historically lacked access to electricity. To address this fundamental gap while advancing environmental protection, Quest Global and Uthishta Charitable Trust have implemented a centralized solar power system that now illuminates the village through energy-efficient LED streetlights. With the installation complete, the system is fully operational and delivers immediate impact, creating a healthier and safer environment for residents through clean, renewable, off-grid lighting.
The initiative is expected to deliver measurable social benefits: enhanced evening study hours, improved safety for women, children, and the elderly, and increased community interaction after sunset. Children can now safely gather after dark for group studies, homework, and learning activities, fostering consistent study routines and improved academic engagement without increasing the carbon footprint. Monthly tracking will monitor usage, maintenance patterns, and community feedback to document the before-and-after impact.
Speaking on the initiative, Ajit Prabhu, Co-Founder & CEO, Quest Global, said “We believe engineering excellence must translate into meaningful social impact. Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond technology, it is about improving lives. Through our partnership with Uthishta Charitable Trust, we are bringing clean solar energy and safe lighting to remote communities like Doddane, where access to electricity has long been a challenge.”
Building on the success in Doddane, Quest Global has implemented a similar solar streetlighting project in HD Kote village, Karnataka.
