BANGALORE: Milaap.org, India’s largest crowdfunding platform and Paytm, the mobile payment and commerce platform, collaboratively raised funds to support families of Indian Army Martyrs as a tribute for our fallen heroes. Mayukh Chowdhury, CEO and Co-Founder, Milaap.org handed over a cheque of Rs 10,88,560 to Vasantharatna Foundation, in a formal ceremony today.
The campaign #SupportOurHeroes was launched ahead of India’s 70th Independence Day, where Paytm invited its users to contribute using their Paytm wallet. The company then matched each contribution rupee for rupee to double the impact of the donations. The amount raised will be used for education, medical expenses and vocational training for families of the soldiers who died fighting for the country.
Shankar Nath, Sr. Vice President – Paytm, said, “This Independence Day, we wanted to pay our respect to our noble martyrs and their families, and to let them know that we are tremendously grateful to them for all their sacrifices. We used technology to help people donate to a cause they really care about. We raised significant funds together, and will continue to be associated with this noble cause.”
Mayukh Chowdhury, Co-Founder and CEO- Milaap.org said, “We are happy to see so many people coming forward to support the campaign. With technology evolving so rapidly, donors have adapted to newer methods of payment like the QR Code and the Paytm Wallet to contribute to a cause they care about”.
