OUP India launched an online CSR program to remotely engage with students from its partner charities across Delhi NCR, Chennai and Kolkata. The initiative aims towards providing a meaningful opportunity to employees to engage with the students and support them to ensure that learning continues for them in these unprecedented times. As part of the program, OUP volunteers are virtually teaching young learners in a subject or skill of their choice whilst they’re working from home.
This initiative led by OUP India’s CSR Working Group will last the month of May, with employees running interactive online sessions on behalf of OUP’s charity partners: Literacy India, Ritinjali, Hope Foundation and Chudar Foundation, who are all committed to supporting the educational and vocational learning needs of underprivileged children across the cities of New Delhi, Gurugram, Kolkata and Chennai.
During the month, employee volunteers will be conducting 37 sessions for over 200 students. The program includes interactive sessions on English Language Teaching and Career Counselling to help the students become more confident and well-groomed future professionals. In addition to these, employees will be conducting host of interactive sessions spanned across a wide range of subject areas, covering Music, Dance, Arts and Crafts, Origami, Creative writing, Aerobics, Yoga, and Elocution to name a few.
Speaking about this initiative, Sivaramakrishnan Venkateswaran, Managing Director of OUP India said: “As a responsible corporate citizen it is incumbent upon us to give back to society, especially in extraordinary times like these.
