NEW DELHI (India CSR): On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 77th birthday, Narayan Seva Sansthan organised a Modular Artificial Limb Fitting Camp at the Red Fort Ground in Delhi on Thursday, providing advanced modular artificial limbs to 77 persons with disabilities. The German-Japanese technology-based modular artificial arms and legs were fitted to the beneficiaries. Along with limb fitting, they were also provided with necessary physiotherapy and training on the use of the artificial limbs, enabling them to use the devices comfortably and move towards a more independent life.
The chief guest at the camp was Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar Khatik. Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal, Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Kishor Makwana, ALIMCO CMD Praveen Kumar, and Chairman of the Lav-Kush Committee Arun Goyal were present as special guests.
The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the guests. Narayan Seva Sansthan Trustee Devendra Choubisa welcomed all the guests. Social worker Satyabhushan Jain gave the guests an overview of the camp and briefed them about the fitting and rehabilitation process being carried out for persons with disabilities. On behalf of the Sansthan, the dignitaries on the stage were felicitated by Jatan Singh Bhati and Camp In-charge Hariprasad Laddha.
On the occasion, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar Khatik said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given persons with disabilities a dignified identity through the term ‘Divyang’. He appreciated the work being undertaken by Narayan Seva Sansthan to transform the lives of persons with disabilities and help them become self-reliant. He said that providing Delhi’s persons with disabilities with modern artificial limbs is an inspiring initiative that connects them with new possibilities. The German-Japanese technology-based modular artificial limbs will help enhance their mobility and day-to-day functionality. He congratulated Sansthan founder Kailash ‘Manav’ and President Prashant Agrawal for their service initiatives.
In his message, Narayan Seva Sansthan President Prashant Agrawal said that the Sansthan aims to provide advanced pneumatic artificial limbs to an increasing number of persons with disabilities. He said the Sansthan will continue its efforts to ensure that Divyang brothers and sisters do not remain behind anyone in society and move forward shoulder to shoulder with others. Artificial limbs are not merely a means of compensating for the loss of a body part, but also help strengthen a person’s confidence and self-reliance.
A 15-member team of specialists from Narayan Seva Sansthan provided services during the fitting camp. The team fitted the artificial limbs and explained their proper use to the beneficiaries. Physiotherapy sessions were also conducted to provide training required for walking, movement and daily activities. The specialists ensured proper fitting of the artificial limbs according to the individual needs of the beneficiaries.
During the camp, Dr. Virendra Kumar Khatik interacted with the beneficiaries and learnt about their experiences. He extended his best wishes for their better, empowered and self-reliant future with the support of their new artificial limbs. The faces of the beneficiaries reflected confidence and renewed
