BHUBNESWAR: Monnet Power Company Limited, Angul’s CSR initiatives were recognized in the Interface – Asia, CSR-2011 THINK ODISHA LEADERSHIP AWARD held by the Tefla’s and the Times Of India on 27th August, 2011 in Hotel Swosti Premium in Bhubaneswar.
The Think Odisha Leadership Awards were given in various categories, including Arts and Culture, Literature, Sports and Industry.
In the corporate social responsibility category, Monnet Power Co Ltd was awarded for the Best Women Empowerment Program for their activities initiated in Angul. Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik gave the award to the Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, Murari Sharan.
Monnet Power has taken initiative to bring a significant difference in the field of women and child development. The primary aim is to create an environment for the women of the villagers and enhance their self image and self respect.

Healthy Kitchen – value addition to enrich the food towards better health and nutrition
Literacy Campaign – ensure every women can read and write bringing them confidence.
The Interface – Asia, CSR-2011 was inaugurated by the Chairman, Orissa Human Rights Commission R.K. Patra followed by discussions and speech by dignitaries of various implementing agencies. During the 2nd business session AGM (CSR & Corp. Communications) of MPCL, Harmeet Sehra made a presentation on the Challenges of sustainable CSR initiative by Corporate in Odisha.
An audio and visual display of CSR interventions of Monnet was presented in the above venue through an Exhibition Stall.
In partnership with Eurofit, a SMOKELESS CHULHA was launched for the first time in state of orrissa. This was one of the products present in the stall which was appreciated by all dignitaries who visited the stall.
