BANGALORE: LabourNet Services India Pvt. Ltd., a social enterprise and a NSDC partner, completes a decade of successful operations, a milestone marked with numerous achievements and recognitions. To continue with the trend and for more challenging growth ahead, LabourNet appoints A. M. Thimmiya as the president of the board. Thimmiya, a senior professional in Training and Education has a rich, in-depth understanding of the Training and Education industry in India, Middle East & Africa, and parts of the Far East including China.
“Having held several leadership positions in a career spanning three decades, I look forward to working with LabourNet and contribute significantly to its growth”, said Mr. Thimmiya. Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Gayathri Vasudevan, Co-founder & CEO, LabourNet said, “We are glad Mr. Thimmiya is now part of our LabourNet family and as a family, we will be working on re-aligning of roles to bring better synergies within the organization. We are sure this will further empower our team members in building a stronger organization. Hence, a change in positive direction”.
Under the capable stewardship of Dr. Gayathri Vasudevan, LabourNet has evolved as a social enterprise, enabling employability and entrepreneurship across sectors through vocational education and skill training. Over the years, LabourNet have scaled up considerably with their presence in 650 locations across India, with 300+ livelihood centres impacting 5,00,0000 individuals through vocational education and skill training in 170+ trades, across 28 + sectors. According to Gayathri, “In a decade’s time, we are happy to see us grow from a small NGO to a social enterprise that is enabling livelihoods of millions of individuals across sectors. Looking forward to many more years and impacting many more individuals”. LabourNet has been honoured with a number of prestigious awards, viz. Partner of the Year by Godrej in 2011-12, Best Practices Recognition award by NSDC in 2013-13, Most Sustainable Initiative award by NSDC in 2013-14, Best Entrepreneur award by Entrepreneur Magazine in 2015-16, Best Training Partner award by RSDC in 2016-17, “Best Social Enterprise” award by World CSR Day, 2017, to name a few.
