ANGUL: The Annual Handball tournament-2016, organised by the Jindal Officer Club (JOC) has been concluded on November 17, 2016 evening at Jindal Nagar, Angul. Team Extreme comprising players from JSPL’s SMS, DRI, LDP & Oxygen Plants won the championship trophy for the year 2016 by defeating Josh a team covering players from CGP, RMHS, Logistics, CHP & Coal Washery by 14 – 05 goals.
Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL)’s Executive Director (in-Charge) and Location Head of the unit Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, graced the final match as Chief-Guest and distributed prizes to different team and players. Jindal Mahila Samiti President Mrs. Sujata Saraogi, Mr. A.N. Tiwari, VP-CGP; Col. Randhir Singh, VP-Logistics, Mr. S.S.R.B. Vedantam and other departmental heads, Community Members and residents of Jindal Nagar were also present on this occasion to witness the match and encourage the players.
Distributing the prizes Mr. Saraogi said, “Both the teams played well but the team with good sportsman spirit and better understanding among its players won the title”.
This knock out tournament was started on 15th of Nov and total 8 teams comprising best players from all the departments of JSPL and its associate companies were clubbed together for this mega event.
Anurag Rout of team Extreme won the best players of the tournament for his outstanding performance.
This tournament was organized under the supervision of JOC General Secretary Damodar Mittal, JOC Sports Secretary Capt. Ajit Singh along with other office bearers and team members of JOC.
It is noteworthy that JSPL in pursuant to its CSR mission has been promoting wide-scale sports and athletic promotion activities by providing special sports-trainers in 34 periphery villages and organizing various inter-village cricket, hockey, football, Kabaddi and other tournaments through JSPL Foundation.
