BHUBANESWAR: Innovative Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practice of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) has been recognised with CSR Excellence Award in Gold Category today at Bhubaneswar. JSPL’s EVP & Group Head (CSR) Prashant Kumar Hota received the award from Board of Revenue Member and KBK Region’s Chief Administrator during a seminar on ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives’ organised by Institute of Quality & Environment Management Services (IQEMS) in collaboration with Rotary International District 3262 on Saturday at Bhubaneswar.
Receiving the Award, Prashant Hota said “At JSPL, pursuing the vision of our leader Shri Naveen Jindal, we focus on maximizing our effort to improve the quality of life of the local Community . We consciously converge with the Government line Departments associated to implement sustainable CSR Projects in the sphere of Community Health, Mass Education and Natural Resource Management. This award will further encourage our team to collaborate further with the Govt Departments for holistic development work for the community”. He also thanked the jury and IQEMS for the award.
Dinesh Saraogi ,the Executive Director in charge and location Head of JSPL Angul attributed the support of the Community, Govt of Odisha and the commitment of the CSR Team for this prestigious Award.
The seminar was attended by practitioners and experts drawn from industries, academia and social development sector. Discussions were held on various issues related to CSR. JSPL’s DGM (CSR) Puspalata Satapathy shared JSPL’s experience in carrying out collaboration programmes for community development.
“In Odisha, JSPL has taken several innovative socio-economic development programmes in the rural area spread in 3 districts i.e Angul , Keonjhar and Sundergarh. Our effort to make a positive contribution to the lives of the underprivileged communities by supporting wide range CSR activities will continue”, said Manish Kharbanda, Executive Director, JSPL.
The award has been instituted by IQEMS, a premier training and consultancy organisation based at Bhubaneswar to recognise and encourage companies for their CSR Initiatives and best practices as per recent Company Act. IQEMS has undertaken a very detailed survey of the CSR Activities being implemented in the State and have developed a structured indicators to shortlist Industries for the Award which was finally examined by the Jury Members before announcing the Award.
JSPL has successfully partnered with several government and non-government agencies for implementing community development projects.
Through its CSR Arm, the JSPL Foundation, led by Smt. Shallu Jindal, the Company has been implementing two integrated watershed development programme in collaboration with NABARD. It has also partnered with OSACS for HIV/AIDS mitigation, with District Administration and ICDS for adolescent anaemia control activities through Kishori Express, with District Red Cross for blood donation camps, Krishi Vigyan Kendra for Capacity Builidng of Farmers, with Sarva Sikhya Abhiyan for Community Teacher support programme and with the DIC for Terracota development. Besides these, the Company is in collaboration with NACO, Agriculture Technology Management Agency(ATMA) Orissa Rural Development & Marketing Society, District Veterinary Office, District Sports Office, and ITC Ltd for need based focus area contributing to the Quality of Life of the Community.
