JSPL, Angul is a role model for path breaking CSR initiatives
DUBAI: Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL), Angul has bagged the globally reputed Golden Peacock Award for outstanding CSR in the 7th International Conference on Social Responsibility organised by the Institute of Directors in Dubai Inter Continental Venue in Dubai Festival City. The presentation Ceremony this evening was chaired by the Former Chief Justice of India Padma Vibhushan M. N. Venkatachaliah.
The Former Chief Justice said that Golden Peacock Award is a great recognition for sustainable initiatives by the Corporates as the Selection process is multi laired which goes through several tests, opinion Checks and verification systems.
General Ahluwalia, Chairman Of Institute of Directors said that every year more than 800 applications are received for Golden peacock awards, which undergo through a process of screening, short listing and verification by an illustrious jury panels consisting of Supreme Court Judges, Diplomats, Academia, Developmental Scientists of high international reputation. The Chairman of the Jury Committee is Justice P.N. Bhgawati former Chief Justice of India.” said Gen Ahluwalia.
JSPL, Angul Odisha was honored with this prestigious award by Dr Abdul Rahaman Alwar, Director General of Federal Govt Authority of UAE for Human Resource and HE Juma Al Majid, the Chairman of Dubai Economic Conclave.
The award was received by D.K. Sarogi, Executive President of the Company and Head of Jindal’s Plant at Oman and by Prashant Hota, Vice President of JSPL looking after CSR and Corporate Communication.
The Global convention at Dubai deeply appreciated the social initiatives of JSPL in Angul location which helped to create social entrepreneurship especially in Women in Groups and actually contributed to integrate the Village economy with the Project economy.
“Particularly the initiatives like Aanchal, Kishori Express, Ssodashi for Mother and child care, Eco Spa and Watershed Development for Natural resources Management for sustainable livelihood being implemented by JSPL are driving tools for inclusive growth” as cited in the Global Conference during the Award giving ceremony.
In the Inaugural session, HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Makhtoom, Presidency of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and HE Lokesh MK, the Ambassador of India to UAE congratulated the Indian Industries like JSPL who are working for sustainable upliftment of the vulnerable Community irrespective of Business interest.
Mr D. K. Saraogi while receiving the Award said the Business Mission of JSPL inspired by its founder OP Jindal ji and driven by Parliamentarian Navin Jindal ji is fully aligned to shape up the lives of the Local People and support them to emerge as an enterprising Community”.
