The Department of Ophthalmology, Sir J.J. Amblyopia, commonly known as lazy eye, affects an estimated 3–5% of the population and remains the leading cause of preventable visual impairment among children. If left untreated, it can result in lifelong vision loss, quietly limiting a child’s education, career and quality of life.
Intermittent squint (intermittent strabismus) is another widespread binocular vision disorder affecting both children and adults. Patients may experience intermittent double vision, headaches, eye strain, reduced depth perception, difficulty focusing and unstable eye alignment, symptoms that quietly erode daily performance at school, at work and behind the wheel. For generations, families were told that treatment was only possible in early childhood. That belief is now being rewritten.
