Hindustan Zinc Marks 101 Nand Ghars, Inaugurates 70 New Centers in Rajsamand

UDAIPUR (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc Limited, India’s largest and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer, in collaboration with the Anil Agarwal Foundation, celebrated the milestone of 101 newly developed Nand Ghars in Rajsamand district with the inauguration of 70 new ones. Nand Ghars are modernised anganwadis that serve as centres of holistic woman & child development. This milestone follows the earlier inauguration of 31 Nand Ghars, bringing the total number of these state-of-the-art childcare and women empowerment centres in the district to nearly 700, thereby further strengthening Rajasthan’s Anganwadi infrastructure.

Expanding Impact

This milestone builds on Anil Agarwal Foundation’s to a total of approximately 4,200 centres in Rajasthan across 15 districts with nearly 700 in Rajsamand alone. On a national scale, the Nand Ghar initiative has modernized over 7,500 anganwadis across 15 states, positively impacting over 3,00,000 children and 2,00,000 women.

Inauguration Ceremony

The inauguration ceremony, held at Kuraj in Rajsamand, was graced by Smt. Dipti Maheshwari, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Rajsamand, and Sh. Arun Misra, CEO – Hindustan Zinc, along with district administration officials, village sarpanchs, and members of the local community. Addressing the gathering, Smt. Dipti Maheshwari emphasized the significance of modernized anganwadis in fostering holistic community development and applauded Hindustan Zinc and the Anil Agarwal Foundation’s efforts in strengthening Rajasthan’s early childhood care and education ecosystem.

Flagship Initiative

Nand Ghar is Anil Agarwal Foundation’s flagship community initiative, developed in partnership with the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. These modernized anganwadis provide comprehensive development opportunities through nutrition programs, digital early childhood education, healthcare services, and women empowerment activities. With the newly inaugurated Nand Ghars in Kuraj, alongside the existing ones in Railmagra and Khamnor blocks, Hindustan Zinc is playing a pivotal role in strengthening grassroots development in Rajasthan’s rural communities. This expansion aligns with the Anil Agarwal Foundation’s ambitious vision to establish 25,000 Nand Ghars across Rajasthan in the next two years, fostering sustainable rural transformation.

Leader’s Perspective

Sharing her thoughts at the inauguration, Smt.Dipti Maheswari, Member of Legislative Assembly, Rajsamand, said, “This is a monumental step in the development of Rajsamand. We appreciate the efforts of Hindustan Zinc in bringing transformative change to the state’s anganwadi infrastructure. The Nand Ghar initiative embodies the shared vision of the Government, District Administration, and Hindustan Zinc towards holistic growth and empowerment of women and children at the grassroots level.”

Equipped with e-learning tools, solar power, and healthcare services, Nand Ghars are setting a new benchmark for rural community development, reinforcing Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to sustainable growth and social transformation in India.

Broader Social Impact

Beyond nutrition, education, and healthcare, Hindustan Zinc’s social impact encompasses women empowerment, skill development, water and sanitation, infrastructure improvement and supporting grassroots level football, art & culture. Flagship programs such as Shiksha Sambal, Jeevan Tarang, Unchi Udaan, Zinc Football Academy, Sakhi and Samadhan have positively impacted nearly 20 lakh lives across 4,000 villages. Ranked among India’s top 10 CSR companies, Hindustan Zinc’s initiatives reflect its commitment to building a resilient, self-sufficient Rajasthan that champions inclusivity, innovation, and environmental responsibility.

The company also launched EcoZen Asia’s first low carbon ‘green’ zinc, produced using renewable energy, that has a carbon footprint about 75% lower than the global average.
