Hindustan Zinc Contributes Rs 18,846 Crore to Exchequer in FY26; Five-Year Total Tops Rs 91,572 crore

UDAIPUR, RAJASTHAN (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, contributed Rs 18,846 crore to the public exchequer in FY 2025-26, as detailed in the company’s 9th Tax Transparency Report. The report reinforces Hindustan Zinc’s continued commitment to transparent governance, responsible business practices and nation building. The contribution, representing 46% of the company’s revenue, reflects our unwavering support for India’s economic development and Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.

The company’s cumulative contribution to the exchequer over the last five years now stood at Rs 91,572 crore. The contribution includes taxes on income, government royalties, indirect taxes, dividends paid to the Government of India, withholding taxes and other statutory levies.

The report has been prepared broadly in alignment with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI 207: Tax 2019) framework and guided by the principles of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) and the International Council on Mining and Metals – Social and Economic Reporting Framework (ICMM – SeRF).

Admissions Open for BBA in CSR, Sustainability and ESG

The contribution to the exchequer was supported by Hindustan Zinc’s strong operational and financial performance during FY’26. The company reported revenue of Rs 40,844 crore, EBITDA of Rs 22,162 crore and profit after tax of Rs 13,832 crore. During the year, Hindustan Zinc achieved its highest-ever mined metal production of 1,114 kt while silver production stood at 627 tonnes. Reflecting its consistent value creation and market leadership, Hindustan Zinc was included in the Nifty 100 & Nifty Next 50 Indices effective 30th September 2025, followed by inclusion in all Nifty ESG Indices effective 31st December 2025 on the National Stock Exchange. Since disinvestment, the company has delivered total shareholder returns of over 1,400x, with a share price CAGR of c.33%.

Key Highlights from the Tax Transparency Report:

The 9th edition of the report provides a detailed overview of Hindustan Zinc’s contribution to the exchequer in FY’26 and its responsible tax governance practices aligned with global disclosure frameworks:

  • Total contribution to the exchequer of Rs 18,846 crore in FY’26
  • Five-year cumulative contribution to the exchequer stood at Rs 91,572 crore
  • Indirect taxes contribution of Rs 6,637 crore in FY’26
  • Contribution as Government royalties of Rs 5,073 crore, including contribution to District Mineral Foundation (DMF) and National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET)
  • Contribution towards Taxes on income of Rs 4,552 crore
  • Corporate dividend contribution to the Government of India of Rs 1,180 crore
  • Withholding taxes contribution of Rs 755 crore
  • Contribution towards other taxes borne of Rs 593 crore and other indirect contributions of Rs 56 Crore
  • Effective tax rate (ETR) for FY’26 stood at 25.26%
  • The Report is aligned with GRI 207: Tax framework and guided by EITI and ICMM-SeRF principles

As part of its transparency and governance framework, the company engaged a Big 4 audit firm to provide independent assurance on the report, attesting the accuracy of its transparent disclosures. This independent assurance report forms part of the Tax Transparency Report, reinforcing Hindustan Zinc’s strong tax governance principles.

Tax is an important Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) consideration that supports the company’s agenda on sustainable development and related goals. Hindustan Zinc ranked 1st in the world in the Metals & Mining sector for the third consecutive year by S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2025.
