Guwahati (Assam): A fire broke out at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) Rig SKP-150-II at well NG#8 in the Geleky area of Sivasagar district in Assam on July 21, 2023. ONGC’s emergency response protocols were immediately activated, and the fire was promptly extinguished, preventing any injuries or loss of life. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.

At approximately 1450 hrs, a fire incident occurred at ONGC’s rig, prompting immediate action from the company’s trained firefighting personnel. Experts from the Regional Crisis Management Team were mobilized to contain the emergency situation. ONGC’s Assam Asset firefighting team, known for their swift and efficient response, were able to bring the situation under control by 1617 hrs.

Following the fire being brought under control, the ONGC firefighting team continued cooling operations to ensure the safety of the site. The rig was secured, and experts now maintain constant observation to prevent further incidents. The company reassured that there were no injuries among ONGC personnel or its business partners.
