In a monumental move to improve rural eye-care, Chetak Foundation, the CSR wing of Chetak Group, has launched ‘Chetak Drishti Abhiyaan’ in Charkhi Dadri District, Haryana. The initiative stands as a tribute to the Chetak Group’s late founder, Jai Karan Sharma, enacted in his home district.
Inauguration of a Visionary Endeavor
The campaign was officially inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Transport, Mines & Geology, Higher Education and Election, Government of Haryana, Mool Chand Sharma. This inaugural ceremony, held at Shri Sharma’s birthplace, Jhinjhar, witnessed the presence of 175 Sarpanches from Charkhi Dadri, the Chairperson of Chetak Group, Smt. Unveiling a Visionary Endeavor
The pioneering campaign was officially launched by Hon’ble Minister Mool Chand Sharma, who stated, “After my education, I did not get a job and entered politics. Our PM was a tea seller. Shri Jai Karan Sharma rose from a small village in Haryana and went on to set up a big company, providing employment to thousands of people. We must aspire to be like him by giving jobs, not seeking jobs.”
Addressing over 2000 attendees, Mool Chand Sharma emphasized the importance of courage, self-reliance, and the inspirational journey of Shri Jai Karan Sharma. Mukesh Haritash, Director of Chetak Group, thanked the attendees for their support and committed to carrying forward the work of his late father.
A Hundred Days of Sight
Running from July 1, 2023, to October 12, 2023, this 100-day campaign is dedicated to providing free spectacles to seniors in 175 villages, following eye examinations. The inauguration also saw the dedication of Shri Sharma’s biography to the people of his hometown.
Upholding a Legacy
Reflecting on the event, Mukesh Haritash, Director of Chetak Group, said, “Our father inspires us and seeing the Sarpanch of 175 villages gathered here to pay tribute to him is heartening. I thank the minister, and everyone present for their support and guidance. His achievement will continue to inspire the youth of Haryana.”
Igniting the Flame of Ambition:
The event recognized a young boy from Jhinjhar village, who became the village’s first IAS officer, demonstrating the influence of Shri Sharma’s inspirational journey. Sachin JKS Haritash, another Director of Chetak Group, highlighted the campaign’s broader vision, including fostering sports among village children.
