LANJIGARH: The District Industrial Centre (DIC), Kalahandi organised a 10 day Entrepreneur Development Training Program (EDP) at Lanjigarh in partnership with Vedanta. The objective of the training was to sensitize the youth on various existing government schemes, available opportunities, resources, facilities available and try to convert the interested and potential aspirants into successful entrepreneurs.
It was also aimed at addressing the rising unemployment among the youth and to develop a culture of entrepreneurship in the society which would not only create self-employment but also engagement opportunities for local youth.
The inaugural session held on 20 October was attended by the G.M. DIC Kalahandi – Narshing Sahoo, the IPO DIC Kalahandi – Devadatta Das, IPO DIC Kalahandi – Sobhagya Ranjan Behra and IPO. DIC Kalahandi – Dilip Kumar Barik. The cadidates were provided training in entrepreneurial skills, importance of self- employment, process of applications, types of subsidies, eligibility and other benefits of entrepreneurship etc.
The training program was organised for 50 youths from periphery villages including PAPs and students of Yuva Pragati Kendra from 20 to 31 October at the office of Yuva Pragati Kendra, Lanjigarh.
After successful competition of training, all the candidates were awarded individual certificates from the DIC Kalahandi.
12 participants have already applied to DIC for taking up micro & small enterprises. The closing ceremony was attended by GM DIC, IPO DIC, Mrs Shukla Chakarborty, Principal DAV Vedanta International Limited and CSR representatives of Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh.
Community mobilisation for the training program was coordinated by FIDR, the NGO partner of Vedanta in Yuva Pragati Kendra and Rural BPO.
