Vedanta’s alumina refinery in Lanjigarh, has initiated a Telemedicine Service in the region through its hospital. During the COVID-19 lock down, this facility will help patients connect with doctors over phone for free consultation while not requiring them to be in proximity with each other and maintaining social distance.
Rakesh Mohan, COO, Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh says,“During the COVID-19 lockdown, many patients from far-flung areas do not have the option to come to the hospital for consultation. Therefore, we have started this Telemedicine facility to serve the community as best as we can.”
Patients can also call through WhatsApp and medicines can also be prescribed through the same medium. The facility will ease the difficulties of the local people who are coming from remote villages and over long distances.
The company’s 20-bedded hospital is in a state of preparedness to support the district administration. A 24×7 telephonic helpline has been set up by Vedanta hospital to address any queries or concerns on COVID-19 from the community.
The hospital continues to serve about 7000 patients per month from the community with doctor consultations and free medicine support.
