MUMBAI: As part of its Community Social Responsibility activities, thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (TkIS) India, one of the country’s most renowned engineering companies for the chemical process industries, recently has made contributions of several medical equipment in hospitals across Mumbai and Pune including surgical devices to treat critical diseases and surgeries.
In one such initiative, tkIS India donated 48 sets of Neuro Vascular Catheters to the Department of Oncology, TATA Memorial Hospital, Parel Mumbai in the year 2016-17. Earlier, 39 sets of catheters were donated by the company to the hospital in the year 2014-2015, which were used for the treatment of 13 patients suffering from Retinoblastoma, an eye cancer. The catheters are used for patients coming from the underprivileged sections of society who are not in a position to afford the expensive treatment associated with eye cancer.
“Donations such as these are extremely significant, as they greatly increase the chances of success in operations,” said Dr Anil D’Cruz Director at the Tata Memorial Hospital. The senior cancer surgeon who is also Director at India’s largest and most renowned cancer hospital in India was speaking at the handover ceremony for critical-care medical equipment being donated by thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (India) at the Hospital.
