In a move to bolster healthcare infrastructure, an action plan valuing Rs 10 crore has been laid out for enhancing facilities at Jayanagar General Hospital. The announcement was made by Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao during the inauguration ceremony of the hospital’s modernized emergency care unit this past Saturday.
Infrastructure Enhancements on the Horizon
Dr. Vasanthi B N, the acting medical superintendent of the institution, provided insights on the action plan, highlighting that it primarily focuses on refurbishing the toilets and drainage system. Additionally, the hospital is set to receive a fresh coat of paint, amplifying its aesthetic appeal.
CSR Initiatives in Healthcare
A significant highlight of the event was the unveiling of the renovated emergency care unit. Canara Bank, demonstrating its commitment to community welfare, funded this renovation project with a substantial Rs 4 crore from its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. The 20-bed unit stands as a testament to the positive impacts of CSR endeavors in healthcare. Rao, emphasizing the significance of such partnerships, advocated for more corporations to allocate their CSR resources towards enhancing health infrastructure.
Addressing Medicine Shortages
Rao also touched upon a pressing concern during his speech – the prevailing shortage of medicines in government hospitals. He assured those present that measures are underway to rectify the situation by December. Pointing out the lapses, he mentioned that the Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd had not been consistent in supplying medicines to hospitals. The issue, he confirmed, is now being addressed as a top priority.
