Revolutionary Collaboration Aims to Propel R&D in Mining Sector
Ranchi: In a landmark move, Hindustan Zinc, one of the foremost names in the Zinc-Lead-Silver industry and a proud member of the Vedanta Group, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CSIR-CIMFR, seeking to advance research and innovation in the mining domain.
One Week One Lab: A New Dawn
This pivotal partnership was unveiled during the opening event of the “One Week One Lab” initiative, an ambitious program architected by Union Science and Technology Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh. The primary objective of this program lies in tapping into groundbreaking technologies, ensuring that both institutes work in tandem to address core technological challenges.
A Multi-Dimensional MoU
While the MoU primarily focuses on heightening R&D in mining, the scope is vast. Both CISR-CIMFR and Hindustan Zinc are set to pinpoint potential R&D sectors spanning exploration, mining, and a plethora of related areas. The vision is clear: blending scientific prowess with industry expertise to birth innovations that reshape the industry landscape.

The inaugural session witnessed the participation of several industry stalwarts and academicians, including Dr N Kalaiselvi, Director General of CSIR; Mr. Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc; and Prof. Arvind Kumar Mishra, Director of CSIR-CIMFR Dhanbad, among others. It’s noteworthy that MoUs were also exchanged with industrial titans like Tata Steel, Adani, and NMDC, highlighting the event’s magnitude.
