As part of its efforts to support the underprivileged and vulnerable communities during COVID-19, HCL, a global conglomerate, commissioned two oxygen plants in the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh in partnership with the State Government.
The two plants at – Sandilla Community Health Center and at District Women’s Hospital – can individually produce 375 liters of oxygen per minute (LPM) and have the capacity to together support 150 beds at a time.
These plants are aimed at ensuring oxygen support to COVID-19 patients across various hospitals in the State as well as enabling the State Govt. to be adequately prepared for a possible third wave of the pandemic.
The Government of Uttar Pradesh has provided Medical Gas Pipeline System (MGPS) at the Sandilla Community Health Center and has assisted with all civil and electrical work. The plant produces oxygen at 93% capacity with a digital state-of-the-art user interface control panel for operational monitoring.
It was inaugurated by the Member of Parliament (MP, Misrikh, UP) Hon. Ashok Rawat; Member of legislative assembly (MLA, Sandila, UP) Hon. Raj Kumar Agrawal; Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Hardoi, Dr. Suryamani Tripathi; and Project Director, HCL Foundation Alok Varma.
The plant at District Women’s Hospital, Hardoi will be operational within a month.
Medical oxygen support has been a critical component of Covid-19 response by HCL during wave two. It has supported Oxygen plants across the country, including sourcing 21 ready-to-use Oxygen plants from France (19), and Italy (2) for the Delhi Govt. HCL also provided 6000 oxygen cylinders with a capacity of 40 liters and 50 liters for citizens in the national capital.
Besides Delhi, HCL helped set up oxygen units in Kotagiri, Tamil Nadu (130 LPM) and Nagpur, Maharashtra (600 LPM). HCL’s COVID response in wave two also includes augmenting bed capacity, medical supplies, vaccination, food support and animal care.
