CSR: Ambuja Cements Marks Women’s Day, Engages 1,700 Women

Ambuja Cements marked International Women’s Day 2026 across states, engaging women from Self Help Groups and rural communities.

AHMEDABAD (India CSR): Ambuja Cements, the 9th largest building materials solutions provider globally and part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 through large-scale community engagements across Darlaghat in Himachal Pradesh, Sankrail in West Bengal, Bhagwanpur, Uttarakhandand Bhatapara in Chhattisgarh, reaching over 1,700 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) and rural communities.

At Darlaghat, more than 600 women from SHGs, including members of the Jagriti Mahila Federation, participated in a day-long programme featuring cultural performances, sports activities and awareness sessions. A street play on drug de‑addiction emerged as a key highlight, drawing attention to critical social issues impacting rural families. Outstanding SHGs were felicitated for their enterprise performance, while women entrepreneurs showcased products developed through livelihood initiatives supported by Ambuja Cements. The event was attended by Hon’ble MLA Shri Sanjay Awasthi and senior district officials.

In West Bengal, around 200 SHG members and SEDI students gathered at the Sankrail centre in Howrah for a focused celebration highlighting women’s entrepreneurship and skill development. High-performing women engaged in enterprise promotion were recognised, while cultural performances and interactive activities reinforced confidence and collective participation among attendees.

At Bhatapara in Balodabazar district, Chhattisgarh, nearly 500 women from surrounding villages took part in an International Women’s Day programme. The event included awareness sessions, exhibitions and cultural performances centred on women’s empowerment and economic participation. Community leaders and women representatives encouraged participants to pursue self-reliance and active roles in local development.

Across all locations, the celebrations reflected Ambuja Cements’ continued commitment to strengthening rural livelihoods, enabling women-led enterprises and creating platforms where women can learn, lead and inspire. The initiatives reaffirm the organisation’s belief that empowered women are central to building resilient families and sustainable rural communities.

As part of its CSR, Ambuja Cements promotes women empowerment through eh formation and strengthening of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and support them in income generating activities and group-based activities along with financial literacy, entrepreneurship training and market linkages to enhance their economic independence. Till date over 39,000 women have been reached.
