RAIPUR (India CSR): The Chhattisgarh government has launched the “Mor Gaon, Mor Pani, Mor Taria” mega campaign, with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai laying the foundation for 500 new ponds to strengthen water conservation and rural livelihoods. The initiative aims to improve groundwater levels, boost irrigation, and create income opportunities for farmers through activities like fish farming and agriculture.

For the government, this campaign enhances rural development, strengthens agricultural productivity, and improves economic resilience in villages. It also reinforces the state’s image as a proactive administration focused on sustainable development and community participation. By leveraging schemes like MGNREGS and promoting women’s involvement, the initiative not only addresses water scarcity but also drives inclusive growth and long-term socio-economic benefits across rural areas.

Under the initiative “Nava Taria, Aay ke Jariya,” he also laid the foundation stone for the construction of 500 new ponds across the state. This will help in water conservation, increase groundwater levels, and improve irrigation facilities for agriculture. Through this campaign, large-scale efforts will be made to strengthen water conservation, water augmentation, and rural livelihoods.

Under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), a target of 10,000 livelihood ponds was set across the state, against this more than 13,000 ponds have already been completed by April 15, 2026, showing the campaign’s strong progress and effectiveness.

“Water is the foundation of life and development. Through the “Mor Gaon, Mor Pani, Mor Taria” campaign, efforts are being made to turn water conservation into a mass movement in every village. This will not only increase water availability but also boost farmers’ income and strengthen the rural economy,” said Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.

He emphasised that through livelihood ponds, various income-generating activities such as fish farming, duck rearing, water chestnut cultivation, vegetable production, and plantation will be promoted in rural areas, creating additional income opportunities for people.

To promote the scheme at the grassroots level, information is being disseminated through wall writings, banners, awareness campaigns in Gram Sabhas, and detailed information via QR codes. Extensive publicity is also being done through social media platforms.

To promote women’s empowerment, women from self-help groups are actively involved in livelihood pond activities, and the name of a woman member from each beneficiary family is being mentioned on display boards to strengthen their rights and participation.

Under this initiative, works are being approved based on advanced technology-based planning and Gram Sabha consent, ensuring transparency and effective monitoring. Through community participation, this campaign will contribute to the overall development of Gram Panchayats and give a new direction to the rural economy. The “Mor Gaon, Mor Pani, Mor Taria” mega campaign is emerging as a historic initiative, transforming water conservation into a mass movement across Jashpur and the entire state, bringing lasting change to the lives of rural people.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Board Rampratap Singh, MLA Pathalgaon Smt. Gomti Sai, Jashpur MLA Smt. Raymuni Bhagat, along with a large number of distinguished citizens, were present.
