Under ‘Upchar Aapke Dwar’, the MMU will serve 23 villages in Bariyatu and Balumath blocks, benefiting around 37,000 rural and project-affected families over two years
RANCHI (India CSR): Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has taken another significant step towards strengthening community healthcare services in rural Jharkhand. The company has launched its fourth Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) under the CSR initiative “Upchar Aapke Dwar”.
The MMU was inaugurated and flagged off by Harsh Nath Mishra, Director – Human Resources, CCL. The event witnessed the presence of a large number of General Managers, officers, stakeholders and employees of the company.
The newly launched Mobile Medical Unit will provide healthcare services in 23 villages of Bariyatu and Balumath blocks in Latehar district. The initiative is expected to benefit around 37,000 rural residents and project-affected families over a period of two years.
Through this intervention, CCL aims to take primary healthcare, screening services, medicines and paramedical support directly to remote communities where access to medical facilities remains limited.
The Mobile Medical Unit will offer a range of healthcare and diagnostic services. These include:
- OPD services and free medicine distribution: Rural families will receive basic consultation and essential medicines without cost.
- TB screening: The MMU will provide TB testing through RT-PCR and AI-based X-ray technology.
- Diabetes and blood testing: Regular testing will help in early diagnosis and management of common health conditions.
- Breast cancer screening: Women in rural communities will have access to early screening support.
- Health awareness campaigns: The initiative will also focus on spreading awareness about preventive healthcare, hygiene and disease management.
CCL said it is making continuous efforts through various initiatives to provide screening, medicines and other paramedical services to people at their doorstep. The company’s objective is to ensure that healthcare support reaches remote villages and underserved communities.
The “Upchar Aapke Dwar” initiative reflects CCL’s commitment to inclusive healthcare under its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. By deploying mobile medical services, the company is working to reduce the healthcare access gap for rural and project-affected families in its operational areas.
As a major public sector coal company, CCL has been undertaking several welfare initiatives in health, education, livelihood, environment and community development. The launch of the fourth MMU adds to its ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life of people living in and around mining-affected regions.
The initiative is expected to play an important role in early diagnosis, timely treatment and health awareness among rural communities in Latehar district.
