Arjun Ram Meghwal is an Indian politician who is currently serving as the Minister of Law and Justice, Government of India since May 18, 2023. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has been a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Bikaner constituency in Rajasthan since 2009.
Meghwal was born in Kishmidesar village in Bikaner district, Rajasthan, on 20 December 1953. He is a post-graduate in political science and also has law and MBA degrees. He was an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer before joining politics.
Meghwal started his political career in 1999 when he was elected as the MLA from the Bikaner West constituency. He was re-elected in 2003 and 2008. In 2009, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Bikaner constituency. He was re-elected in 2014, 2019, and 2024.
In the Modi government, Meghwal has held a number of ministerial positions. He was the Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation from 2014 to 2016. He was the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs from 2016 to 2017. He was the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs from 2017 to 2021. He was the Minister of State for Culture from 2021 to 2023.
Meghwal is a known face in the Indian political arena. He is a popular leader in Rajasthan and is seen as a rising star in the BJP. He is known for his simplicity and down-to-earth nature. He is also known for his work ethic and commitment to public service.
