Anand Dubey is a visionary leader and the driving force behind the modernization of the Indian laundry sector. With over two decades of corporate leadership experience, he has successfully transitioned India’s highly unorganized, traditional laundry practices into a robust, technology-driven retail and industrial powerhouse. Currently serving as the Country Head, India and South Asia for JENSEN Group, Anand is spearheading the next evolution of the industry: sustainable, automated commercial laundry growth.
The Professional Journey
Armed with an MBA and extensive corporate experience with global brands like Godrej & Boyce and KOHLER, Anand took a bold leap in 2014. He became the first Indian employee of Alliance Laundry Systems (ALS), an American giant entering the uncharted Indian commercial laundry market.
The initial landscape was heavily fractured. The Indian laundry sector was entirely unorganized, dominated by traditional washing and ironing services, with zero presence of modern laundromats. Success seemed distant, but a major breakthrough came in Mumbai: a compact 6×10 ft store featuring a single stack washer-dryer. This strategic placement bridged the gap between traditional methods and modern convenience, laying the foundation for a retail revolution.
Key Milestones and Industry Impact
Anand’s strategic vision catalyzed a domino effect across the Indian retail landscape, transforming an overlooked chore into a booming franchise opportunity:
- India’s First Self-Service Laundromat (2015): Launched Washeteria in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, alongside channel partner ADD Laundry. This ahead-of-its-time venture served as a vital proof of concept and a learning ground for the broader market.
- The Retail Revolution (2016): Through strategic collaborations with Mr. Arunabh Sinha and Franchise India, Anand and ALS provided the vital technical backing and machinery needed to launch UClean. This pioneering move gave birth to the organized retail laundry category, inspiring a wave of successful brands like TumbleDry, Fabrico, and Waasle.
- Post-Pandemic Resurgence (2020–2024): When COVID-19 threatened to decimate small businesses, the retail laundry sector instead witnessed unprecedented, exponential growth. Under Anand’s strategic guidance, the footprint of retail stores equipped with Speed Queen machines surged from 1,000 pre-pandemic to over 5,000 stores nationwide.
A New Chapter in Automation: JENSEN GROUP
After 11 transformative years building the retail franchise model, Anand recognized a critical industry bottleneck: the reliance on skilled manpower and the need for rigorous operational efficiency at scale.
In June 2025, he joined JENSEN GROUP—a global leader in laundry automation with over 60 years of heritage and eight manufacturing units worldwide. Now focusing on industrial and large-scale On-Premise Laundry (OPL) operations, Anand is bringing cutting-edge automation to India. Under his leadership, JENSEN is redefining Indian hospitality and commercial laundry standards, having already achieved nine massive tunnel washer installations and placing over 100 premium flatwork ironers in luxury five-star properties across the country.
Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Anand envisions the next frontier of the Indian laundry market driven by centralized, automated franchising. His strategic roadmap focuses on two high-yield models to organize the remaining untapped market:
- Medium Centers: Tailored for boutique hotels and large residential property owners, featuring high-capacity automated machines and professional ironers for consistent, efficient daily processing.
- Large Centers: Designed for institutional investors, these massive hubs will leverage industrial-scale machinery, advanced automation, and sophisticated management systems to track, process, and optimize every single load.
