Case Study of Sanjukta Mandal –
Dhamra: “It happened suddenly when I was undertaking some domestic work. I became scared when my left hand and leg stop working after I got the head drill I was taken to a Hospital at Cuttack in the same night on 30th January 2023 for diagnosis and treatment. After diagnosing the stroke, the doctor had prescribed me with a long list of medicines and asked my husband to take me back to home. I started losing hope of my recovery.
It was after 3 days of the incident; my neighbors insisted me to visit Adani Wellness Center for Physiotherapy. I was unable to stand and walk. Even I was unable to move my upper and lower left side limbs. My uncle and Husband lifted me to the Physiotherapy Center on local transport (Auto Rikshaw) on 6th February 2023. I was detected with hemiplegia. Since then, I have been provided with physiotherapy treatment once in a day. After 07 days my hand and leg started working and after 10 days I started walking of my own without any support.
I am the youngest daughter-in-law in the family and have two Sons attending their Anganwadi. Thinking about my children, I was frightened and hopeless when attacked with the stroke and lost the function of my Hand and Leg. Thanks to Adani Foundation and the functionaries of the Physiotherapy center for their effort in bringing me back to the normal stage” – said Mrs. Sanjukta Mandal (30yrs), wife of Mr. Biswajeet Mandal a fisherman of Oramal village of Dosinga GP.
This is not the one case, there are several more who have been benefitted from the service of the Physiotherapy center which has been operating since 22nd July 2022 at Narasinghprasad of Dosinga GP under the Corporate Social Responsibility of Adani Dhamra Port.
The center is standing as the milestone in addressing the challenge of physiotherapy in the vicinity as the people need to travel for more than 85 kilometer to get access to such service. The center has extended its service to over 750 patients starting from its inception by collecting Rs.100 as users’ contribution to make it a self-sustained and self-reliant unit for the goodness of the local public.
The foundation is running the Wellness Center and Mobile Health Care Unit to reach the unreached and bridge the gap of health services from which the people are deprived out of due to the shortage of manpower in the local PHCs and distance of the CHC and District Head Quarter Hospital from the locality which are running with less manpower.
