JAMSHEDPUR: Road accidents have been one of the greatest health hazards. Statistically, it has been shown that the number of death and injuries due to road accidents has been steadily increased within the past five years. Urban Services, Tata Steel, takes a positive step forward to promote road safety today by organizing a road safety rally at Baridih Community Centre, Baridih. The programme aimed at creating awareness for minimizing the road accidents in the steel city.
Over three hundred people gathered for this noble cause and did a door to door campaign in the various bustees of Baridih. The most effective solutions discussed at the programme for road safety related problems integrated the driver, the vehicle, the road and environmental considerations. Improvements in road safety can best be achieved through consultation and co operation with specific levels of government, industry and the public. All users of the transportation system must share responsibility for safety. Recently, road accidents have increased drastically and should be really considered a major health hazard of today.
The mass campaign was flagged off jointly by Colonel Shankar Narayanan, NCC, 37 Jharkhand Battalion, Jamshedpur and Mr VN Gaikwad, Chief, Safety & Ergonomics, Tata Steel from Baridih Community Centre. The guests were much delighted to see the gathering of the people interested to learn about road safety measures. The respected guests suggested people to sincerely follow the traffic rules and other safety norms at home.
