United Way of Baroda with Corporate Partners donate Covid relief equipments

United Way of Baroda with Corporate Partners donated Oxygen Concentrators, Pulse Oximeters, and Sterile Rubber Hand Gloves to District Development Officer (DDO) for Rural COVID setups of Vadodara District.

Under United Against COVID-19 Response Program, United Way of Baroda donated 36 10-liter Oxygen Concentrators, 200 Pulse Oximeters, and 12,700 Sterile Rubber Hand Gloves to COVID hospitals of Rural Vadodara District which are facing the rise in COVID cases.

The first phase of the COVID-19 has created a myth among many that COVID-19 is an Urban phenomenon. The second wave of COVID-19 has pour the despair and misery in the entire nation including rural areas. Cases of rural areas have increased 300% higher as compared to last year (from 23.1% April 2021 to 45.5% April 2021).

Total 5 major states have got affected including Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. When looking to the rural areas of Gujarat, total 18,000 villages spread over 36 districts have been affected by the COVID-19. The cases are still increasing at rapid speed. Rural areas are lacking of awareness and reluctant to submit to testing and treatment make the rural population more susceptible to COVID.

Efforts are carrying out fervently by United Way of Baroda to meet to the medical crisis faced by COVID hospitals of Vadodara and in neighbouring areas in terms of shortage of medical equipment and consumable irrespective of rural and urban areas of Vadodara.

United Way of Baroda lifted its support under UNITED AGAINST COVID-19 RESPONSE INITIATIVE in brace of UWB funds and CSR funds of Shiva Pharmachem Ltd, BANCO Aluminium Pvt Ltd, GE (T&D), Galaxy SIVTEK and Avani Siddharth Patel donated advanced medical equipment and tools to Shri Kiran Jhaveri- IAS, DDO of Vadodara District.

200 Pulse Oximeters

12,700 Sterile Rubber Hand Gloves

Taking in hand the perquisite of these medical equipment and tool, Oxygen concentrators are less portable than the other options. It helps to take oxygen from the room, concentrates it for the therapeutic use and removes other naturally occurring gases. They are less expensive and no requirement for filling like tanks.

Pulse oximeter determines the percentage of oxygen in the haemoglobin called oxygen saturation which describes the level of oxygen getting to the organs and is mainly used for evaluating patients in hospitals, including those who underwent surgeries and having respiratory issues. Sterile gloves help to reduce the risk of exposure to blood and body fluid pathogens and also prevent the surgical site infections for the health care workers.

Being forefront to fight against COVID-19, United Way of Baroda has been urging to join United against Covid Response Initiatives to support more hospitals of Gujarat state and also spreading awareness to take complete precautions till the risk rate is less of this pandemic situation.

Shri Kiran Jhaveri- I.A.S., District Development Officer Vadodara District conveyed his heartfelt gratitude towards United Way of Baroda being ardent for the good cause of safeguarding Vadodara saying that Vadodara’s renowned NGO United Way of Baroda along with other donor partners be has been very generous to donate Oxygen concentrators-10 litre, Pulse Oximeters and Sterile Rubber Hand Gloves to the COVID hospitals for rural PHCS of Vadodara District.

Through these medical equipment and tools, more than 13K rural Vadodara citizens will be getting better treatment and thus this would be an ease for them to get back home safely. He also thanked on behalf of Medical officers of all PHCs and CHCs of Vadodara to UWB and other donor partners for their contribution in fighting against COVID-19.

Minesh Patel, Treasurer-UWB & Dr. Binita Verdia CEO-UWB, Kannan (Shiva Pharmachem Ltd), Mrs. Rachana Patel (BANCO Aluminium Pvt Ltd), Virendra (GE T&D), Saumil (Galaxy SIVTEK) and Avani Siddharth Patel were present at Vaccine campus at Akota while handing over the advanced medical equipment and tools to Dr. Kiran Jhaveri- I.A.S., D.D.O.-Vadodara District, Dr. Surendra Jain, C.D.H.O.-Vadodara District, Dr. Uday Tilavat, In-charge C.D.H.O.- Vadodara District.
