The Coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 220 countries and territories. This is one of the most prominent health issues faced globally. With the second phase of COVID-19 hitting India, number of cases are increasing rapidly. The severity of the infection has been more dangerous.

The second wave is fuelled by new strains of the coronavirus which is manifesting in different demographics and affecting wider rangers of people. Many states are reporting shortages of hospital beds, oxygen supply, medicines and even space in morgues and crematoriums.

Taking into consideration of Gujarat, 582,725 people have affected so far by COVID-19. Sadly, 7,355 patients have died due to this virus. Vadodara city surpassed its highest single day count recorded overall 45,821 cases and 392 deaths. This swift increase in the number of cases have resulted in running out of beds, oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment in the hospitals.

Gujarat State Government Authorities have been urging people suffering from the virus to opt for home quarantine if their situation is not worse. The grounds of deaths are rapid decrease in oxygen level, sudden cardiac arrest or heart failure, brain stroke and multiple organ failures.

Sir Sayaji Rao General (SSG) Hospital is among the demanding hospitals since this pandemic situation. People when diagnosed positive due to COVID-19 prefer to get admitted in these government hospital in order to have better medical treatments. This major hospital is facing medical issues including beds for patients, oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment.

Taking heed to this major issue, United Way o f Baroda and Rishabh Software put forth their helping hands by donating oxygen concentrators to SSG hospital from both of their own corpus funds respectively.

Oxygen concentrators are better enough for mild and moderate COVID-19 patients with oxygen saturation levels of 85% or above. They are easiest alternatives and portable. There is no requirement for special temperature and refilling in terms of oxygen concentrators and through on power source, it can draw in ambient air. The usage of the oxygen concentrators for the patients was observed which gave high satisfaction to both the organizations.

United Way of Baroda has been urging people of Vadodara to take complete precautions looking towards the rise in the COVID-19 cases regularly and appeal to join the United against Covid Response initiatives to support more hospitals of Gujarat State.

SSG Hospital Superintendent Dr. Ranjan Iyer extended heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for this generous contribution towards their hospital in this very difficult times to United Way of Baroda and Corporate Partner.

Saumil Shah, Chief Strategy officer at Rishabh Software, thanked United Way of Baroda for their timely identification of medical equipment and Covid hospital to extend support in this pandemic situation. He also added that they would donate more oxygen concentrators to further support this noble cause through an esteemed NGO partner – United Way of Baroda.

Chief Executive Officer Dr. Binita Verdia at United Way of Baroda shared that in coming days, United Way of Baroda will be donating more number of Covid medical equipment’s and medical supplies to various government and Trust Covid hospitals and Dry ration kits to disadvantaged families and underprivileged communities from their organization corpus as well as under CSR of various Corporates.

Together we can support and make a difference.
