New Delhi: Dabur initiated Sanitation Drive to provide easy access to toilets and sanitation facilities in rural households which covered the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
The company spent Rs 95 lakh in FY 2018-19 on eradicating hunger, poverty and malnutrition under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The company commits to protect the dignity of women in rural India by giving them access to clean sanitation facilities within their households.
Over 3800 household toilets were constructed through the programme till the date.
The programme also helped 42 villages achieve Open Defecation Free status.
The project has also gone a long way in improving the health & sanitation standards in households and villages in rural Ghaziabad, Rudrapur and Baddi in Uttar Pradesh, by reducing the cases of diseases and malnutrition due to open defecation.
Sanitation is directly linked with water conservation.
Protecting water from contamination through household waste is very important. Simple hygiene tactics like hand wash practice, safe filtration and storage of household water resources becomes essential in a state like Rajasthan where scarcity of proper drinking water is one of the major issues.
To address this issue, Dabur also undertook a massive Water Conservation and Management initiative, called Desert Bloom which ensures three key activities of Nadi digging, Tanka construction and recharging Pits.
Rain water is now collected in these Nadis and Tankas, which is then put to use through hand pumps by the villagers.
The initiative has helped reduce the water scarcity problem and ensured the availability of water irrigation and cattle for families in villages of Newai, Rajasthan.
Over 800 families in the state of Rajasthan were benefited by the programme.
