New Delhi: Hindustan Unilever Ltd spends 126.45 crore on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) during FY 2018-19, which is more than its prescribed CSR budget of Rs 124.19 crore.
The company has a clear purpose to make sustainable living commonplace and aims to deliver long-term sustainable growth, with reduced environmental footprint and increased positive social impact.
During the year, the company has spent an amount of 3.9 crore on Fair & Lovely Foundation and 0.6 crore on Rin Career Ready Academy in accordance with the CSR Policy of the company.
However, these spends have not been considered for the purpose of computing prescribed CSR spend of 2% of average net profit.
The company introduced Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP) which has three global goals to improve health and well-being of more than a billion people, halve the environmental footprint and enhance the livelihoods.
These goals contribute to the activities listed in the Schedule VII of Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013.
USLP commits to a value chain approach which is integrated across the company’s brands and operations.
The company also contributes in achieving United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals through its initiatives.
