Visakhapatnam: With an aim to improve the depleting green covers through seed bombing bike expedition, a group of 15 bikers is all set to take advantage of this monsoon season. Titled as ‘Monsoon ride for a cause,’ the team want to emphasize the need to plant saplings and maintain them.
Scheduled on 14 Jul, the bikers will cover a distance of approx 270km as a part of their expedition. As a part of corporate social responsibility (CSR), Visakhapatnam chapter’s Road Thrill, a bikers’ community spread across India has taken this initiative.
“Earlier, a few of the team took part in the night camping at Araku, South-India expedition among others. However, this is the first time that the Visakhapatnam chapter is teaming up for seed bombing bike expedition which is impactful”, said Naveen Nembhwani, travel photographer and administrator of the local chapter’s Road Thrill.
The bikers plan to throw the seed bombs made of organic fertilizers and manure along with seeds of gulmohar, papaya, banyan, tamarind and neem in the barren land and open pits along the highway.
“About 600 seeds have been used for the purpose. After placing the seed bombs, we will also tag the location through google maps and revisit the place after three to four weeks to check on the blooming plants”, Naveen added.
This organic seed bombing drive will help to replenish the lost greenery in the city.
