Hyderabad – Smart learning solutions provider Next Education India Pvt Ltd has launched coding game – KODA – which will help the children to design their own games through coding, the company said in a press release on Monday (24 Jun).

KODA enables the children to acquire coding skills and also facilitates learning of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), the release said.  Koda is a block-based programming, designed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

“With the world quickly transitioning into a knowledge economy, children must stay equipped with 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking, and collaboration, which are crucial to becoming eligible for jobs  in the future,” Beas Dev Ralhan, chief executive officer (CEO) and co-founder said.

While children start developing an interest in STEM fields at an early age due to their interest in technology, not many are able to take the leap from being a user of technology to an innovator when they grow up,” Ralhan pointed out.

KODA has been developed to inspire the next generation of coders, Ralhan added.

The game is designed for the children between 9  and 13 years and is available on company’s self-learning platform LearnNext, the release said. The platform incorporates more than 12 programming concepts and 40 learning modules to keep the children interested, the release said. The modules cover programming and STEM concepts.

The next decade will see a high demand of students of about “80%”, with math and science skills, the release said quoting a study by National Science Foundation (NSF).

The education system in India puts too much emphasis on exams curbing students’ appetite for innovation, problem-solving skills, and creativity the release said. Next Education will try to bridge the gap through Koda, the release said further.

With over 80 activities and over 50 challenges and quizzes, the solution helps access the learning outcomes and also aids learning by simplifying application of the concepts.

As part of the introductory offer, Next Education is rolling out a complete subscription of ‘KODA’ for just INR 1500, the release said.
