WEST BOKARO: Commemorating International Women’s Day, Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division saluted the spirit of its female work force through a series of activities that concluded with a mega event at Auditorium, West Bokaro. Aptly themed, Balance For Better, organised ‘Diversity & Inclusion’ initiative of company.
The event included on-the-spot competitions for women employees, quiz competition, cultural programmes by women employees and enthralling skits by artists of Jharkhand Film & Theatre Academy, Ranchi that kept the audience spell bound.
On this occasion, Tata Steel also recognised its women employees who had made a difference by their contribution to the company in their respective fields by felicitating them in the event.
Tata Steel Rural Development Society, the CSR wing of Tata Steel organized a Matri Shisu Mela and SHG Adhiveshan for the women residing in and around West Bokaro at Mukundabera Sports Ground, West Bokaro.
More than 500 persons including girls and women from peripheral villages were benefitted by both the events.
While the Matri Shishu Mela aimed at encouraging overall wellbeing of the child by ensuring complete immunization, on time weaning practices and proper monitoring of growth and development of the children of the region, SHG Adhiveshan aimed at empowering SHG women through engaging them in team building activities apart from increasing their awareness on SHG functioning including Book-keeping, linkage with bank & marketing strategy.
It is worth mentioning here that the diversity and inclusion plan for Tata Steel started in June 2015 and a diversity group named ‘Mosaic’ was formed which is dedicated to the cause of gender diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
With its five-pronged program that covers recruitment, sensitization, retention & development, infrastructure and celebration, MOSAIC seeks to take fast-paced steps towards gender parity and thereby catalyze positive change.
