MANGALURU: Udupi Power Corporation Limited, in association with Adani Foundation, handed over a letter of confirmation of CSR grant for Rs 3.74 crores to Yellur grama panchayat of Udupi district on January 9, 2016.
The letter was handed over by Kishore Alva, executive director, Project Development and Corporate Affairs of UPCL to Vasanti Madhwaraj, president of Yellur Grama Panchayat, at Yellur Grama Panchayat.
Kishore Alva said that UPCL is executing many developmental activities in the areas of education, health and rural infrastructure development and previously UPCL has released a grant of Rs 94 lakhs for executing works like road development, improvements to primary health centre and drinking water facilities at Yellur village.
“Based on a letter sent by the deputy commissioner of Udupi District, the grama panchayat have identified and given the list of works to be executed in their limits. Accordingly, Adani UPCL has approved for release of grants for executing those developmental works under its CSR. The confirmation letter for the same is now handed over to Grama Panchayat. The works under this grant shall be executed in phases for the next three years, Kishore said.
He said that the requests for developmental grants have been received from panchayats of Palimaru, Belapu, Bada and Padubidri and it would be considered for release in phase-wise manner.
