BANGALORE: Sridhar Ranganathan, Managing Director of Allergan India believes that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is more than just a good idea at his company.
On the occasion of winning an award for recent CSR work he said, “We maintain some of the highest CSR standards in the industry, focusing our efforts on sustainability initiatives in the areas of energy use, environmental protection and supporting the underserved society.”
Allergan India Private limited, a speciality pharmaceutical company, recently won the award to promote sports. Company is supporting Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), the sports wing of Samarthanam Trust for the disabled, for conducting cricket camps across the country, identifying cricketing talent amongst the visually impaired.
In a statement company said, “Allergan’s support for the cricket coaching camp and skill training of cricketers saw a direct impact on more than 600 visually impaired beneficiaries. The camp consisted of four batches, each of which averaged around fifty players. The players aged between 16 – 24 years, were from all over the country, who have had prior experience of playing cricket back in their home towns.”
In addition to the above, the candidates of the camp also assimilated elementary skills of using Android devices and were also coached on other aspects like personality development and communications. The cricketers garnered valuable lessons of team building and acquiring leadership qualities. Allergan has been associated with Samarthanam Trust (CABI) since April 2017.
“Allergan India actively participates and leads others CSR initiatives like the Construction and Maintenance of Toilets (Completing about 200 numbers by this year-end), Vidyarathi Scheme – Fund school fees for under privileged students and other ongoing health and environment awareness camps.”, company said.
