MUMBAI: Finolex Industries and CSR Partner Mukul Madhav Foundation contributed Rs 25 lakhs for the construction of five special children ward to Sawali Day Care Centre. The centre, located in Kolhapur is a specialized health care centre that caters to old, handicapped and mentally challenged people who cannot be given appropriate health care at home even if the family members want to. Bablu Mokhale handed over the cheque to the representative of Sawali on September 14, 2017.

Established in 2004, Sawali Care Centre has been designed as a holistic unit with centralised amenities ranging from nursing to doctor consultation to proper meals and recreational activities for its residents.

Sawali Care Centre is the only institute in South Maharashtra that helps and provides treatment and care for the elderly bed-ridden patients and now will support children with special needs too.

Specialized childcare centres in the heart of Maharashtra is limited, whereas there have been reports that vast number of children are unable to get proper attention and care at home. This new children ward will be constructed with the aim to provide not only medical and rehabilitation facility to these children, but also a homely atmosphere aiding in the overall wellbeing of the child.

Ritu Chhabria, Managing Trustee, Mukul Madhav Foundation,“Sawali Care Centre have been doing some excellent work in the area of helping elderly people, patients and their families. We wanted to add another wing to their existing facility by helping them come up with a special children ward to help children around this area suffering from similar problems and in need of specialized care.”

She further added, “Sawali Care Centre is another such extension of the work that we already do and take pride in. This ward is dedicated to my late father in law Shri PP Chhabria ji who has taught us to always do our bit in whatever way possible for the society at large. We hope our contribution will help children to get best facilities and a healing environment.”

The construction of the Special Children’s ward is expected to be completed by the end of October 2017. It will cater to 20 children with special needs from the areas of Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Belgaum and Konkan region. This is an extension of the work done by Finolex Industries and Mukul Madhav Industries in the area of restoring proper lifestyle for children suffering from Cerebral Palsy in this region. It has effectively treated and reached out to 772 children with CP from Satara and Ratnagiri. Over the years, MMF has developed significant internal expertise in executing health care and education-based projects successfully and will continue to do so in the future.
