Berhampur (Orissa): Life Insurance Corporation of India’s Berhampur division has decided to provide monthly scholarship to 20 poor and meritorious students to pursue higher education.
The amount of scholarship is Rs 1000 per month for undergraduate students and the amount would be provided till the end of the course of the student.The scholarship would be provided to the students as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the public sector unit, its senior Divisional Manager, D P Patnaik said.Last year, the division provided scholarship to nine under-graduate students, he said.
This year, he said as many as 182 applications were received by the division and the process was on to select 20 students. The selection was expected to be completed by next week, he said.
The students whose family income was not more than Rs 60,000 per annum and who secured at least 60 percent marks in Plus 2 level were eligible to get the LIC monthly meritorious scholarship, he said.
