To promote quality teaching and learning processes in schools, GMRVF has been working with two High Schools and eight primary schools in its project affected nine villages in Mangalpur and Kamalanga Panchayat.
BHUBANESWAR: GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF) with the support of GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL), which operates 1050 MW coal-fired power plant at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal district rewarded 27 meritorious students for their performances in this year’s State Matriculation Examinations.
Students of Mangalpur and Kamalanga High School who secured more than 70 per cent marks were given away cash awards for their good performance in the examinations by GMRVF.
In separate functions at both schools, Dilip Kumar Kar, Program Leader (GMRVF), Sandhya Pai, President of Pragati Ladies Club at GKEL and Susanta Sahoo, Head (EHS) attended the program and handed over cash awards to the meritorious students.
Pragati Ladies Club represented by Pai & other members of the Club handed over specials gifts to the girl students as token of encouragement and praised them for their hard work. Mrs. Pai congratulated and encouraged the girl students to continue their education and learn to stand on their own legs.
In this year’s High School Certificate Examination, 27 students both boys and girls have secured 70-80 per cent marks in Kamalanga and Mangalpur Panchayat. Both school Headmasters expressed their gratitude to GKEL-GMRVF and Ladies Club for the encouragement to the students.
A number of activities have been implemented so far to make education more joyful, contextual and child centered in both panchayats. GKEL has established an English medium DAV Public School at Kamalanga to provide quality education to children of adjoining villages. Similarly, GMRVF has set up Kids Smarts centers and after school learning centers in the villages.
