Finolex Industries, Mukul Madhav Foundation & Shreemant Dagduseth Halwai Ganpati Trust jointly sponsored the NICU

PUNE: Girish Bapat, Guardian Minister, Pune and Girish Mahajan, Medical Education Minister today inaugurated a 59- bedded state-of-the-art Neonatal (NICU) at BJ Govt. Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital here in Pune.
The facility is fully sponsored unit by both Finolex Industries and Shreemant Dagduseth Halwai Ganpati Trust.
While Shreemant Dagduseth Halwai Ganpati Trust Pune has constructed the NICU, Finolex Industries Limited and its CSR partner Mukul Madhav Foundation have aided in partial construction apart from fully equipping the facility with beds, monitors and other equipment.
The Neonatal ICU is a level-III unit with facilities. It has facilities for Total Parenteral Nutrition, Human Milk Bank, ROP screening and treatment, bedside 2 D Echo/USG and hearing services (OAE machine). Resting and shower rooms for mothers are also available.
The NICU is helpful for treating various problems in newborn babies like preterm, birth asphyxia, IUGR, Meconium Aspiration Syndrome, Neonatal Jaundice etc. The services will be provided free to the people, including expensive drugs like surfactant. A trained team of faculty and nurses will be available round to give quality care and service for good possible outcomes for the newborn babies.
Foundation has also been instrumental in providing these faculty members an opportunity to train and upgrade at prominent NICU’s of Pune city namely KEM NICU under the aegis of Dr. Umesh Vaidya and at Bharatiya Vidya Peth.
Ashok Godse, President, Shreemant Dagduseth Halwai Ganpati Trust, said, “We have constructed a kitchen in Sassoon General Hospital. We serve two meals per day per patient absolutely free of cost. We also have donated five Gynae wards and restrooms for the patient’s relative. Additionally, we have also provided the hospital with two ambulances for Pune city.”
Dr. Ajay Chandanwale, Dean of the hospital said, “Our goal is to strengthen the services of Hospital and provide facilities at par with corporate hospitals.”
