BHUBANESWAR: GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) organized three days training-cum-exposure program for farmers who have taken livestock support under Livelihood Restoration Project (LRP) at Motonga Veterinary Office Training Centre under Odapada Block in Dhenkanal district. The prime objective of the training was to provide good experience on livestock and strengthen farmers’ knowledge on benefits of cow rearing and feed management.
About 19 farmers attended the training program and later visited Gailo Dairy Farm to know about fodder cultivation, health care and feed management of cattle and preparation of value-added products from milk. The farmers also attended a training program at GKEL Computer Training Centre to learn about various diseases, symptoms, remedies and balance feed for the cattle.
In another training programme as many as 40 beneficiaries, who have received goat and sheep under LRP attended the programme learnt about various diseases, their cause and symptoms and tips for better income from goat & sheep rearing.
GKEL, which operates 1050 MW thermal power plant at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal district, launched the LRP in Mangalpur and Kamalanga Panchayats under which the project affected families get training on skill development, modern farming and micro-enterprises, which helps boost their income in a long-term basis.
